Dallas Mavericks Injury Report: Major Anthony Davis Return Update, Cooper Flagg's Status and More vs. Wizards (Nov. 8)

The Dallas Mavericks enter Saturday's clash against the Washington Wizards, potentially missing star forward Anthony Davis for the fifth straight game. Davis has been injured since Oct. 29 after injuring his left calf against the Indiana Pacers. Before that clash, he was probable, citing bilateral Achilles tendinopathy. Davis sparked speculation around his return from the calf issue before Friday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. He was upgraded to doubtful but downgraded to out hours before tip off. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said he was unsure about Davis' status for Washington. Nevertheless, he claimed his star player was in good spirits and doing "fine" health-wise. For now, Davis is day-to-day for the road back-to-back against the Wizards. Marc Stein @TheSteinLineLINKAsked about Anthony Davis’ status for Saturday’s game in Washington, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd told reporters in Memphis that it is not yet known. Davis will miss his fourth consecutive game tonight but has had multiple on-court sessions this week in a bid to be cleared.Meanwhile, Cooper Flagg remains available for the Mavericks. The No. 1 pick has yet to miss a game. His search for a breakout outing continued on Friday after managing only 12 points and two assists offensively on 50.0% shooting in a 118-104 loss. Flagg will play a 10th straight game on Saturday.Alongside Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II is among the other active rotation players who started the season but have been injured lately. He’s hopefully back by next week.”The Dallas Mavericks' alternate option at center, Daniel Gafford, could also miss Saturday's clash. The big man left Friday's clash against Memphis with right ankle soreness. Jason Kidd had the same update for Davis regarding Gafford, suggesting it's a day-to-day issue.Grant Afseth @GrantAfsethLINKJason Kidd on Daniel Gafford's injury and if he'll be able to play Saturday against the Wizards: "Yeah, sore right ankle. We’ll see how he feels in D.C. That’s just the nature of this thing."Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum will remain out. Irving is recovering from an ACL surgery and Exum is managing a knee injury.
