Micah Parsons Doesn’t Hold Back on Cowboys Amid Trevon Diggs Injury

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones provided a brief update on corner Trevon Diggs on Tuesday, announcing the former All-Pro isn't on the trade block. "I don't see that today at all," Jones said, about Diggs' time with the team coming to an end. "He's got to get well, and he hasn't been." His comments come not long after the team placed Diggs on injured reserve after the corner dealt with a nagging knee injury and concussion that appeared to occur during an accident at his home. Diggs has not commented publicly on the situation, but his former teammate and current Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons didn't have any trouble coming to his defense. The former Cowboys star openly questioned the team's decision to start Diggs in the first week of the season after coming off of a "catastrophic" knee injury. He didn't participate all camp and he's going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don't think you do that to a player like that. “And the type of knee injury he had, they forced him out there. He has no reps really. He’s telling me he was in warmup phase during Week 1. Even with the ramp-up, I just feel like you just don't do that.” Diggs initially returned to practice on Aug. 25 after passing his physical on Aug. 24 and went on to start for Dallas in its season-opener, but had been listed on the injury report since Week 2 for a variety of different reasons including an illness in Week 3 as well as his knee injury, and then subsequent concussion. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Sunday after the Cowboys’ loss to the Denver Broncos that Diggs was still in Phase 1 of the NFL’s five-phase concussion protocol and his “knee has been problematic throughout the season.” “After visiting with the medical staff, we felt like the best interest of the team and Trevon was to get him back healthy,” Schottenheimer said. “Trevon’s going to work his ass off to get back. He loves playing the game, and I have no question in my mind that he’ll do everything to get back. But part of the deal is it’s not just us. It’s him. It’s the training staff.” Diggs would be eligible to return against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving.
