KOCHVILLE TWP, MI — Mental health professionals from across mid-Michigan next month will gather for a summit focused on advancing practice and community collaboration. The Great Lakes Bay Region Mental Health Provider Summit 2025 will take place Friday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Saginaw Valley State University’s Gilbertson Hall, organizers said. Registration remains open at $50 per person. Jane Harness, an educator from psychiatry department at the University of Michigan, will deliver the keynote address on youth mental health and the impacts of social media. The summit targets mental health professionals, providers, and community leaders for what organizers describe as a full day of learning, connection, and collaboration. The event will feature multiple breakout sessions covering evidence-based strategies, including motivational interviewing at both introductory and advanced proficiency levels, emotional freedom technique, regional perspectives on substance use and trauma services, and supporting mental health in higher education settings. An interactive lunch and learn session will focus on strategies rooted in positive psychotherapy and character strengths designed to boost well-being for both providers and clients, organizers said. A mental health and well-being panel will showcase resources and community partnerships supporting youth, families, and underserved populations.
