Medical student found dead in Nagapattinam hostel

A third-year MBBS student of the Nagapattinam Government Medical College was found dead in his hostel room on Wednesday morning. Police identified the deceased as V. Nishanth, 22, a native of Pandavapuram in Kottur village, Kancheepuram district. Nishanth had been staying in the college hostel while pursuing his third year medicine. According to the police, Nishanth went to his room to study on Tuesday night. When he failed to come out the next morning, his classmates grew suspicious and called his phone, but received no response. They later broke open the door and found him dead. On information, the Velankanni police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
