The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS has extended the Choice Filling of Round 1 of PG Counselling 2025 till further notice, an official notice by the MCC stated. This extension comes after weeks of delay that have already occurred in commencing the NEET PG 2025 counselling. This decision has been taken after the MCC decided to change the existing seat matrix, as the MCC received information about withdrawal of over 160 PG seats. "It is for the information of candidates that the competent authority has decided to extend the Choice Filling of Round-1 of PG Counselling 2025 till further notice, as the seat matrix has to be revised due to information received from NMC for changes in PG seats and NBE for withdrawal of 169 PG DNB seats after the start of Round-1 of PG Counselling," MCC said in an official notice. "The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS is in the process of revising the seat matrix in the larger interest of candidates after removal of excess seats and reapplication of roster to maintain the reservation policy as per information bulletin." MCC will now make the changes in the seat matrix and then upload a revised schedule on the official MCC website, i.e. mcc.nic.in. "The Revised Schedule and Seat Matrix of Round-1 of All India PG Counselling 2025 will be uploaded shortly on the MCC website. Also, the schedule of State PG Counselling will be revised and updated on the MCC website," the notice added. This has attracted complaints from aspirants and experts. "PG aspirants are shattered as #MCC further delays NEET PG 2025 counselling indefinitely," FAIMA said. "Future doctors deserve clarity, not endless uncertainty." "This exposes a serious lack of coordination between the three apex medical bodies — NMC, NBEMS, and MCC — all functioning under the same Ministry of Health," @doctorMaurya tweeted. "It’s been over three months since the results were declared, yet the seat matrix remains unsettled. Thousands of aspirants continue to wait, wasting precious time and opportunities, while resident doctors are stretched to their limits due to persistent staff shortages. Every year, the story repeats — confusion, delay, and silence from the authorities — while the future of young doctors hangs in uncertainty." Additionally, the Supreme Court today (November 7) directed the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to disclose its policy on publishing answer keys for NEET PG exams, with a bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Vipul Pancholi asking the NBE counsel to file an affidavit clarifying its stand on the matter. The Supreme Court was hearing a group of petitions concerning various aspects of NEET PG, with a key focus on ensuring transparency through the disclosure of answer keys. During the proceedings, counsel for the National Board of Examinations (NBE) argued that these petitions were largely driven by coaching institutes seeking access to question paper keys, which, they contended, could undermine the integrity of the examination process.
