Martin Lewis' MSE names best bank account and says 'bonus'

Money experts are highlighting a bank account as the best on the market. Savers wanting to make their money grow faster are being pointed towards the account from online bank Zopa. The account offers a market-leading 4.75%, which includes a one-year 1.5% bonus. READ MORE: Keir Starmer confirms new cost-of-living payments for households on these benefits Get our best money saving tips and hacks by signing up to our newsletter To access the bonus, customers need to open a Zopa Biscuit current account. They also need to ensure they deposit at least £500 into the current account each month to keep the bonus rate. Money experts are alerting Brits to the bank account, with Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert (MSE) making it their best bank account. MSE said: "App-based bank Zopa's 4.75% AER saver is the new top easy-access rate by far (made up of 3.25% variable plus a 1yr 1.5% bonus). "Just open its free Biscuit current account (it only does a soft credit-check, and you needn't switch to it) and the saver opens automatically. "After month one, you need to pay £500+/month into the current account to keep the bonus rate - you can then withdraw it again or move it into the saver." Kate Steere, money expert at the personal finance comparison site Finder, said: "Zopa has bucked the trend with its new easy access saver, giving savers a lifeline in the form of an inflation-beating rate of 4.75%. "Hard-working Brits are finding it tougher to get a decent rate on their savings, despite the base rate staying put. "With inflation expected to climb to 4%, it’s more important than even to find a good home for your cash savings. "Therefore, it’s a boost for the market to see a provider leading the charge with a competitive rate - and it’ll hopefully encourage other providers to follow suit. "The average UK saver has just over £16,000 in savings, so even a small 0.25% rate increase - Zopa’s closest competitor is the Chase Saver at 4.5% - could mean around £40 more in interest over a year."
