Manchester Airport announces major change for two airlines

Manchester Airport has announced two more airlines which will be moving their operations to Terminal 2 in the coming weeks. Airlines are being moved from Terminals 1 and 3 to the new-look Terminal 2 as the airport’s £1.3billion transformation nears completion at the start of next year. Aer Lingus, Luxair, Finnair and British Airways are among the airlines which have already made the change. This week Manchester Airport announced that easyJet will be making the move on November 19. Both airlines provide transatlantic flights to North America. Icelandair provides connecting services to both Canada and the US, while Air Transat flies from Manchester to destinations in Canada. In an update on its website, Manchester Airport said that all airlines will contact passengers directly to confirm the details and airport staff will be on hand to support the moves. Once the transformation project is completed, 70 per cent of flights will be operated from the Terminal, which has doubled in size, while Terminal 1 will close to allow Terminal 3 to expand. Passengers flying from Terminal 2 will be able to benefit from the new facilities and outlets which have already opened at Terminal 2, including the Lego shop, Joe and The Juice, and Pandora. An extension to the terminal opened in 2021 and the airport is now in the final stages of overhauling the original Terminal 2 building to bring it up to the same standard as the extension, mirroring the modern look and feel.
