Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim 'one reason' sack verdict as Bryan Mbeumo lifts lid

Ruben Amorim can breathe a little easier after Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Chelsea last weekend, but further challenges are just around the corner, with a trip to Brentford this weekend being the main concern . Before the international break, the Red Devils will face the Bees and newly-promoted Sunderland, followed by tough matches against arch rivals Liverpool and Europa League side Nottingham Forest. Despite this, it's been a good week for Amorim, who has welcomed Diogo Dalot back to full training and seen the club make headway on two transfers for promising young players . Another three points would be the cherry on top for the 13-time Premier League champions as they strive to climb the table. But before we get to that, the Daily Star Sport bring you the latest news from Old Trafford. Despite suffering two losses in their first five Premier League games and an embarrassing exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Grimsby, it's fair to say United's start to the season has been somewhat lacklustre. However, according to Bryan Mbeumo, this hasn't dampened spirits at Old Trafford. The forward, who was one of the club's major summer signings, joined from Brentford in a deal worth over £70million. He's already found the net twice for his new employers, a tally he'll be keen to build upon when facing his former club this weekend. Mbeumo has now opened up about his move to United, praising the welcoming environment at Carrington. "They [the United players] have welcomed me straight away," Mbeumo said. "They're a big part of it. Changing city or club always needs a bit of time, but everyone helped me a lot. "When I first arrive somewhere, I don't like to be loud or show myself a lot, but I can go with people well and now that's what I've done. It's been great. It's a big club – everything about it – and I'm really happy. "The team-mates and staff and everyone at Carrington are lovely people, so you really want to come and work here every day. So it's really good." There was once genuine belief that Marcus Rashford could topple Wayne Rooney as United's record goalscorer. Developments over the past 12 months mean that prospect is virtually dead, with Rashford thriving on loan at Barcelona , who possess an option to make the England striker's move permanent. Rooney's guidance to the Barca star during his Old Trafford days has now come to light after the former Everton striker discussed Rashford on his Wayne Rooney Show podcast. "I spoke to Marcus Rashford on this a couple of years ago, because I felt he was slowing the ball down too much and passing back and turning," Rooney said. "I said, right, when you get the ball, all you need to do is get a full back one v one, knock it past him and run. "He won’t catch you. And even if they do, you might win a free kick, might win a penalty, you get a throw-in high up the pitch. Be positive, because if you ask any defender, that’s what they don’t like, and then running behind off the ball. "It’s so simple to be effective that way. And now players may want to do four, five, six step overs, and then they get a clip on YouTube , which they can show everyone. That’s the way it’s going." Amorim eased the pressure on himself with last weekend's 2-1 victory over Chelsea. However, that hasn't stopped the world of football punditry from speculating about the Portuguese manager's future – and who could potentially replace him. Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin has now given his thoughts, suggesting that former Manchester United midfielders Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher could be considered, at least in the short term. Carrick is currently without a club after being let go by Middlesbrough in June, while ex-Scotland international Fletcher is coaching the under-18s at Old Trafford. Nevin also proposed a theory as to why United are sticking with Amorim, despite the problems they're experiencing on the pitch. "Short term, I wouldn't be surprised at [Carrick or Fletcher to replace Amorim] at all," Nevin said, speaking to gaming news publisher Escapist Magazine . "That would be absolutely fine. And they might do well. "They offered the caretaker role to Ole first didn’t they. It takes the pressure off, you can have a good look around. And if he does well, we just keep him. That's fine. You'll get a bit of pressure in the press saying, ‘They don't know what to do, they haven't got a clue, they can't get the right man, all that sort of stuff.’ "I''ve been there before. I just blanked it. I don't care. I've got a guy doing a good job here and I wouldn't look for the other manager. And I'll say to them, ‘If you keep on doing well, you can get a job.’ I'm not hiding anything from anyone here. I'm looking at every possible option. "But what you have to do is give it a number of months in that situation. If it does happen and things go badly for him then you have to have a direction. You have to have a two, three, four, five year plan. "Maybe that's been United's problem. They’ve tried, they've had plans. They've had two, three, four, five year plans that have all lasted a year. And that's not good. Because the next person comes in and they change it, the next one changes it. "That's the only reason why they're standing by Amorim just now. It's because they know they didn't spend time with the other ones, so we now end up with a Frankenstein team. All bought by different managers. None of it really fits together. And then you find out they got rid of some people they shouldn’t have gotten rid of like McTominay."
