Man Receives Texts From Manager’s Ex-Fiancee About His ‘Toxic’ Conduct. Internet Warns, ‘Do Not Respond’

A man shared that he received a surprising message about his senior manager, leaving him unsure how to respond. Any guesses? The message came from the manager’s former fiancee, who warned him about the manager’s troubling behaviour and requested that he keep the matter confidential. The man, who works at a small firm with just 15 employees, has known the manager for over five years. He said he was taken aback when the message arrived via LinkedIn and was unsure how to respond to such a serious allegation. Woman Warns About Manager’s Behaviour In her message, the woman explained that she had been in a relationship with the senior manager for two years. Their marriage, she said, was recently called off due to “very serious personal reasons.” She claimed that during their relationship, she experienced both physical and mental abuse, which caused her deep emotional distress. The woman further alleged that the man has bipolar disorder and often displays aggressive or unpredictable behaviour. “He has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and, during certain phases, has displayed violent outbursts and manipulative behaviour,” she wrote. She added that he has a “dictatorial attitude, especially towards women,” and expects complete obedience, conduct she described as far from normal workplace behaviour. She ended the message with a request for discretion, writing, “Please handle this message with utmost confidentiality and take whatever action you may consider appropriate to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all.” The woman said she only wanted to ensure that her warning helped protect others at the workplace. How The Man Responded The man confirmed that he knew the sender personally and believed her claims to be true. “I can confirm the identity of the sender to be legit. And whatever she is saying about him is true. What to do?” he wrote while describing the incident on Reddit. He shared his concern in the post, saying he wasn’t sure whether to inform company management or stay quiet. Within hours, his post gathered hundreds of reactions and comments from people offering opinions and advice. This can be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of a senior manager as marriage was called off,” a person commented. Another said, “Why don’t you ask for proofs. Anyways, tread cautiously.” Others suggested that he should report the matter internally: “Don’t respond. Leave it on read. Wait for more sources to confirm this about the manager.” A few users discussed broader workplace issues, writing, “Studies show that 1 in 5 people in the corporate industry are psychopaths,” while another said, “Toxic managers deserve that.” A person added, “Bro, 5+ years is a long time in a startup. Why not switch?”
