Gwinnett County recently wrapped up its Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month with a significant event at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Plaza, drawing a crowd that exceeded 700 members of the community. The gathering was a display of the county's rich cultural tapestry and its dedication to fostering an environment where diversity and inclusion are at the forefront. At the heart of the celebration was the "One Gwinnett" vision, put forth by Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, aiming to create a community wherein every cultural voice is to equally be valued. "Events like this remind us of the power of community and celebration, and of what happens when we create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard and valued," Muriam Nafees, Civic Engagement and Social Impact Director, said in a statement according to Gwinnett County News. The plaza came alive with vibrant festivities showcasing traditional cuisine, cultural performances, and family-oriented activities. Stilt walkers and custom Gwinnett logo coffee drew enthusiastic responses from attendees. Supported by local sponsors and vendors, the event was hailed as a success both culturally and economically. According to the county's website, participating partners were selected in line with county sponsorship and procurement policies to further collaboration with local businesses, performers, and nonprofit organizations.
