(CNS): A 43-year-old man, residing in West Bay, has been charged with Making a False Report after police had received a call made from an undisclosed public facility in the district, on Sunday evening in which the caller claimed h had placed bombs in the district. Officers immediately conducted enquiries, the RCIPS said and with the support of staff at this undisclosed facility determined that the call had been made by a man who had recently visited that location. Police tracked down the man who admitted to the officers that he had not placed any bombs and that the report was not true. He was arrested and taken into custody. First responding officers had conducted thorough searches and confirmed there was no credible threat to the public. After the man’s arrest he was charged and appeared before the court on Wednesday, 29 October, where he was remanded in custody and is scheduled to return on 5 November. there was no indication what had motivated the man to allegedly make the false report or whether he was suffering from mental health challenges. Thanking the public for their assistance the RCIPS also said that making a false report is an offense that they will take proactive steps to prosecute.
