ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – Security camera video in Georgia caught what appears to be an arsonist lighting a day care center on fire Monday. Keisha Archer, the owner of Starr Kidz Academy 2 in Rockdale County, said the fire began around 10 p.m. Ring camera video from inside and outside the building shows the man starting the fire. In one video, the suspect can be seen pouring liquid with flames quickly engulfing the building and climbing up the walls. Archer said the day care was scheduled to open next week. She said the video of the arson is heartbreaking to watch. “I just saw the gentleman putting the gasoline down and setting the building on fire,” Archer said. “And I’m just trying to stay upbeat to keep from going crazy right now.” Fire crews were seen leaving the scene around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. The amount of damage caused by the fire to the building is not yet known. Archer is now left trying to figure out what her next steps are. “We are a small Black owned business. This is money funded out of our hard work and out of our pocket. This money is not given to us. This is not a Fortune 500 company. We work hard,” Archer said. Officials said no injuries were reported.
