Man Becomes Monk At 65, Son Says ‘Aaj Ke Baad Kabhi Inko Papa Nahi Bol Sakta Main’ | Video

Away from the life of success, luxury and relationships, some people choose to follow a different path. Prioritising inner peace and spiritual awakening, they embrace Jain Diksha. In this journey, individuals renounce worldly pleasures, possessions, comfort and other distractions to become a Hain monk or nun. It might be a tough path, but for some, it’s a liberating experience in the pursuit of a higher purpose. Along similar lines, a man welcoming Jain Diksha at 65 has caught the internet’s eye. The video posted by the elderly man’s son on Instagram documented his father’s life-altering initiation ceremony. He had his moustache shaved and hair chopped off before getting a bath for the last time and getting mehendi done on his hands, which are all a part of the ritual. In the clip, the emotional son revealed that his father was leaving the family “forever”. After today, he’ll no longer live with our family. He’ll never wear shoes again, never shave, never get a haircut or enjoy a proper bath.” Embracing Jain Diksha also meant abstaining from wearing nice clothes, riding a vehicle, enjoying certain foods, making a purchase and even touching money again. The video then showed a procession being held, also known as Varsi Daan, where the elderly man sat on a chariot, carried by several men. During the procession, he distributed coins, symbolising the final act of letting go of wealth. “Everyone wished to take a picture with him, to remember this extraordinary moment,” said the son, sharing that approximately 3000 people had gathered to witness the ceremony. Great video,” lauded a user. “I love how nicely you explained it all,” admitted another. “Your father is inspiring the world today,” appreciated one person. “I cried while watching this. What a powerful decision,” noted an individual. “May your father’s path bring peace to many hearts,” read a remark. An individual also asked, “Doodh non veg hai?”, while someone mentioned, “Plants have life Too.”
