Man, 60s, critically hurt in Kapolei crash involving flatbed truck

A man in his 60s suffered critical injuries in a multivehicle collision involving a flatbed truck this morning in Kapolei, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services. EMS responded to the scene at Farrington Highway and Waiomea Street at about 8:50 a.m. Paramedics administered life-saving treatment to the man and took him to the hospital in critical condition. Another man involved in the collision, also in his 60s, declined treatment. EMS said it was the third major motor vehicle collision on the leeward side that it responded to this morning, all on Farrington Highway. The first, at about 5 a.m., was a multivehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old woman who was in a marked crosswalk near Wendy’s in Nanakuli. Two others, a 42-year-old woman also in the crosswalk and a 37-year-old man driving one of the cars involved, were taken to the hospital in serious condition. The 22-year-old driver of another car involved in the crash declined treatment. The other collision, which occurred at about 6 a.m., involved a moped and a motorcycle on Farrington Highway near Waikomo Beach Park. EMS treated two men in their 30s and took them to the hospital in serious condition.
