Tucker Carlson invoked the wrath of conservative influencers and commentators after he interviewed his most controversial guest to date, Nick Fuentes. Fuentes, a controversial figure on the right, is infamous for his views on race and gender. The 27-year-old political commentator routinely promotes anti-Israel rhetoric and has made anti-Semitic statements in the past — including comparing the Holocaust to baking cookies. The former Fox News host sat down in an interview published on Monday night with Fuentes, who also has a proclivity for bashing Israel. Carlson, throughout the interview, disagreed with Fuentes on a variety of issues, ranging from identity politics to intrapersonal relationships between men and women. The pair, however, did agree on their hatred for conservatives they considered to be 'Christian Zionist,' such as Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz. 'How do you explain Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz. And they're a lot like that - John Bolton. I mean, I've known them all - George W. Bush, like Karl Rove,' Carlson told Fuentes.' I mean, all people I know personally who I've seen be seized by this brain virus, and they're not Jewish.' 'Most of them are self-described Christians. And then the Christian Zionists who are, well, Christian Zionists. Like, what is that? And I could just say for myself, I dislike them more than anybody.' Carlson concluded, 'Because it's Christian heresy, and I'm offended by that as a Christian.' Huckabee, who serves as Trump's US ambassador to Israel, responded by claiming Carlson was not familiar with the Bible. 'Wasn't aware that Tucker despises me,' Huckabee wrote on X. 'I do get that a lot from people not familiar with the Bible or history. Somehow I will survive the animosity.' Huckabee, back in September at pro-Israel conference, told a delegation of over 200 US lawmakers that Israel should be viewed as the 'wife' of the United States. 'If you came to my house tonight for dinner and you came in and you said, 'Oh, Mike, we like you. We really think the world of you. We just enjoy being with you. So excited to be here with you and have dinner with you,' he said. 'But your wife, we can't stand her. We don't like her a bit. I hope she's not going to be at the table.' I would say, 'Well, she will be. You won't be. Get out.' Because if you were to insult my partner, you have insulted me.' Other conservatives commentators likewise bashed Carlson with some claiming that Charlie Kirk was a self-described Christian Zionist. 'Tucker is literally calling Charlie a Heretic whom he despised who also had a mind virus,' wrote Brandon Tatum on X. 'Charlie Kirk was a Christian Zionist. This is disgusting. Not to mention he is saying this while interviewing Nick Fuentes, a clear Trump hater and antisemite.' A close personal friend to Kirk, Josh Hammer, also jumped in the online conversation to bash Carlson for sitting down with Fuentes. 'The great Charlie Kirk is rolling in his grave right now,' Hammer told his followers. 'Simply despicable.' Kirk was one of the most outspoken supporters for Israel among right-wing evangelical Christian conservative leaders in the US. Before his passing, Kirk famously refused to not disinvite Carlson from a Turning Point conference despite pressure from the organization's wealthy donors. 'It's been a little more than a month after he spoke at Charlie's funeral, and here he is talking with one of America's most prominent and noxious antisemites about how much he despises Christian Zionists,' wrote conservative legal commentator Will Chamberlain 'Tucker should be ashamed, this is a total betrayal.' Earlier in the interview, Fuentes shares his backstory with Carlson and explains how he became radicalized as a young college student supporting Trump in 2016. Fuentes claims that conservative radio host Mark Levin, a self-described Zionist, influenced his early views on race. He recalls that during high school, Levin was the first conservative commentator who made him think differently about the topic. 'I listened to him every day… in high school. I was a fan. I loved his show. And I actually liked how he was kind of obnoxious and mean to his callers,' Fuentes told Carlson. I'll never forget one show. He goes live and he says, 'America's becoming a majority non-white country. Does anybody think that's a good idea?' And I was thinking to myself, yeah, that actually doesn't sound so good.
