Made in Chelsea star shares update after 'crazy' end-stage liver disease diagnosis

Made In Chelsea's Sam Vanderpump has provided a health update following his diagnosis with end-stage liver disease. The 28 year old reality TV personality, who is awaiting news on whether he qualifies for a liver transplant, appeared on Wednesday's (November 5) instalment of This Morning . Accompanied by his pregnant fiancée Alice Yaxley, he told presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd about the moment he learnt he required life-saving surgery through an NHS app notification. He said: "It was crazy because there was such a radical turn. It was definitely a shock and I was quite frantic and I got in touch with my doctor. "He said 'I can only apologise. I only sent the letter, pressed submitted and I suspected I had a few days to give you a call before the letter reached you. I didn't think you were going to get the notification on the app'. but it's just one of the those things, technology is too good nowadays.", reports OK! . Sam added: "I said to him 'I don't understand because I feel perfectly well'. I sit here today and I could probably go for a run and I'm not jaundice. "He said to me 'I understand that but I wouldn't have this conversation with you if i didn't think in four or five years time your liver wouldn't be okay'." Sam was born with the uncommon conditions polycystic kidney disease and congenital hepatic fibrosis of the liver, and earlier this year the television star "nearly died" after contracting sepsis , which results from liver and kidney failure. Sam has been given the devastating news that his liver is beyond repair and he will need to undergo an assessment for a potential transplant. He bravely shared his story on Made in Chelsea earlier this month, telling his co-stars: "There is no hope of my liver getting better, and he said I wouldn't be having this call with you if I thought you could make it through the next four or five years." End-stage liver disease, the final stage of liver damage, can result from chronic liver disease or acute liver failure, and can also lead to kidney failure, according to NHS guidelines. Following Sam's courageous revelation, the official NHS Organ Donation account responded: "You may have seen on #madeinchelsea, that one of the cast members Sam Vanderpump needs an organ transplant. "Our thoughts are with Sam and his family as they face this news. We hope that his courage in speaking out will offer inspiration to others. "Sadly, thousands of people are currently waiting for a life-saving transplant because not enough people agree to donate their organs. "If you want to be an organ donor and save lives after your death, please confirm your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register and ensure your loved ones know and support your decision." This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am and Made in Chelsea is available to stream on Channel 4
