Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased's care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email. All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full. Please call the obituary desk, at 610-371-5018, for information on pricing. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the M&T Charitable Foundation. The grant will support the Sanctuary’s weekend education programs, including the popular Raptors Up Close series, according to a press release. The family-friendly programs are offered every Saturday and Sunday throughout the spring and fall migration seasons, providing engaging outdoor learning opportunities for visitors of all ages. Hawk Mountain is located in Albany Township, Berks County. “The Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is a national treasure that M&T Bank has been proud to support for more than 20 years,” Carmen Magistro, M&T Bank’s regional president for Northern Pennsylvania, said in a statement. “The Sanctuary, known as the ‘Crossroads of Naturalists,’ offers best-in-class educational programming and hands on learning experiences that are invaluable for inspiring the community to connect with the natural world.” Hawk Mountain’s weekend programs include live raptor presentations, bird identification tips, and hands-on demonstrations that highlight the Sanctuary’s leadership in raptor conservation. Each fall, thousands of visitors travel to Hawk Mountain to witness the migration of hawks, eagles, and falcons along the Kittatinny Ridge. “Thanks to the generosity of the M&T Charitable Foundation, we can continue offering these meaningful, free programs that inspire curiosity, encourage outdoor exploration, and connect people to the natural world,” Mary Linkevich, director of development at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, said in a statement. “M&T’s continued investment helps us welcome new visitors and strengthens our role as both an educational and economic asset for our region.” The M&T Charitable Foundation supports a diverse range of civic, cultural, and educational organizations through grants, volunteerism, and community partnerships.
