A humiliating video has surfaced from an ashram school in Moliaputt village, Parvathipuram district of Andhra Pradesh, showing two young girls massaging the feet of the in-charge headmistress. The incident reportedly took place about ten days ago but came to light on Tuesday after the video went viral on social media. The authorities acted swiftly, suspending the teacher and ordering an inquiry into the matter. The video shows the teacher speaking on her phone while the two girls sit on the ground massaging her legs. According to N. Suman, a senior lawyer and member of the Visakhapatnam Bar Association, the act constitutes misconduct, abuse of power, and both physical and mental harassment of children, The Times of India reported. He added that it violates the students’ right to safety and dignity and represents the exploitation of children for personal, non-educational purposes. The incident occurred at Bandapalli Girls Tribal Ashram School, a residential institution with around 300 students in Moliaputt. The video shows the teacher seated comfortably with her legs on another chair as two girls massage her feet. Following the viral video, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) project officer of Seetampeta in Parvathipuram district, Pawar Swapnil Jagannath, issued a show-cause notice and suspended the teacher. He said a detailed inquiry had been launched and further action would follow based on the findings. The incident also drew criticism from the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh. The YSR Congress Party condemned the act, calling it “a mockery of education.” “At Bandapalli Girls Tribal Ashram School in Meliyaputti mandal, Srikakulam district, a teacher shamelessly made two young girl students massage her feet while she sat arrogantly talking on her cellphone. The disgraceful act, exposed belatedly, has enraged parents and locals. Instead of shaping young minds, this teacher humiliated her students and insulted the sanctity of the teaching profession. Such behaviour reflects the utter moral decay spreading through the education system. This is what is happening under @naralokesh’s so-called leadership, where education has been reduced to a mockery under his careless supervision,” the party said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
