LSU Projected to Hire Hot NFL Coach

The LSU Tigers are 5-3 before getting set to travel to play No. 4 Alabama on Saturday. More News: LSU Linked to Ultimate Anti-Brian Kelly Candidate The Week 11 contest will be the first for Frank Wilson as the interim head coach. The Tigers fired Brian Kelly following a disastrous 49-25 loss to Texas A&M at home on Oct. 25. LSU "acting" athletic director Verge Ausberry is conducting a national coaching search to find Kelly's permanent replacement amid questions about the program's future with leadership and Kelly's buyout. (The Tigers have not finalized Kelly's $53 million buyout, though the former head coach expressed interest in negotiating terms.) More News: Brian Kelly Made His Intentions Clear in Obtained LSU Firing Email Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has been connected to LSU, but he's also drawing interest from rival Florida. Another big-name NFL coach appears to be gaining momentum for the job. Paul Myerberg of USA Today is predicting LSU will hire Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Brady served as the Tigers passing game coordinator & wide receivers coach for the 2019 team that won the national championship. "Brady has been mentioned as a candidate at Penn State, where he once served as a graduate assistant," Myerberg wrote. "But he has deeper links to LSU, where he famously helped develop one of the top offenses in college football history during the Tigers’ unbeaten 2019 season. "These connections and the program’s desire to overhaul a woeful offense have moved Brady up the list." Brady, 36, has no previous head coach experience at the college level or in the NFL. Still, he's proven to be an impressive offensive mind for the Bills. He helped star quarterback Josh Allen earn his first league MVP in 2024. He's helped the Bills start this season 6-2. Brady would be an intriguing hire for the Tigers. He's considered to be one of the top candidates for a head coaching job in the league. However, there would be some risk for LSU to hire Brady. He's spent most of his career in the NFL. He's never even been a coordinator at the college level.
