Live: Trump's Rudd sledge 'just some banter': Albanese

Anthony Albanese is standing by his ambassador Kevin Rudd after Donald Trump said he didn't like him during a meeting at the White House. The US president was asked about Rudd's since-deleted tweets that were critical of Trump. "I don't like you either, and I probably never will," he told Rudd. Albanese brushed the moment off as "just some banter" and accused the opposition, which says Rudd's position is untenable, of "playing politics". "Oh look, it was fine. The president said to Kevin Rudd, 'All is forgiven'," he told ABC News Breakfast. "It wasn't, certainly, a significant moment." The PM said Rudd joined him in the Oval Office for talks with Trump after the televised meeting and it was "all good". "Kevin Rudd's doing a fantastic job. And the work that he did into this outcome is certainly recognised by me, and recognised by all of his American friends as well," Albanese added. Later on the Today show, he called the Coalition's criticism of Rudd "sad".
