Lifestyle brand to open in Scotland for the first time with interactive store

A popular Scottish shopping centre has just announced a major lifestyle brand is set to open in the coming weeks. It's just the latest exciting opening that has been announced recently. Glasgow's Silverburn will become home to Scotland's first ever KENJI store, with the East-Asian inspired retailer set to open its doors sometime in December, although the official opening date has not been confirmed. The retailer offers a range of products that have been inspired by Asian culture, but with a British twist, stocking everything including quirky homeware, stationary, fashion accessories, tech gadgets and Japanese snacks. Currently, there are a total of 13 standalone KENJI stores that are based in England, with the brand also being available to buy in select HMV and Clintons stores across the UK. As for the upcoming Silverbranch location, the store is set to introduce the high-tech, interactive retail concept to the award-winning shopping centre, bringing together a unique blend of physical and virtual experiences. Set to takeover a 3,280 sq. ft unit next to Superdrug ahead of the festive season, it will feature a digital component through the KENJI app that will allow visitors to adopt virtual characters, explore digital fashion, and engage socially online. David Pierotti, General Manager of Silverburn said: “Being the top choice for KENJI's first Scottish store marks another fantastic milestone for Silverburn, further enhancing our diverse, and growing retail offering. "With its much-loved plushies, stylish stationary, unique homeware, fashion accessories, tech gadgets and tasty snacks, KENJI will certainly be a popular choice for our guests and will open just in time for the festive season." Melvin Boyd, Head of Retail for KENJI, said: "As Scotland’s leading retail and leisure destination, with its dynamic mix of visitors and vibrant retail environment, Silverburn is exactly what we were looking for when introducing KENJI to Scotland. "Silverburn’s strong profile of retailers and its ongoing dedication to providing a high-quality customer environment aligns seamlessly with our vision of creating interactive environments that bring the KENJI experience to life." The news follows an exciting host of new openings being announced for Silverburn, with Scotland's leading retail and leisure destination already being home to over 100 big name brands that range from fashion and homeware to food and tech. Following a year of growth, the venue was recently crowned the 'Retail Destination of the Year' at the 2025 SCEPTRE Awards, beating out strong competition from the likes of Manchester's The Trafford Centre and Leeds' Trinity Centre. In the past few months alone, the centre has opened up many new stores including a Jo Malone London, H Beauty by Harrods and Haribo, with future announcements for a Wingstop, Oliver Bonas and a Footasylum before the end of 2025. Outside of Silverburn, many other Scottish shopping centres have been making similar announcements, with Aberdeen's Union Square Retail Park set to boast a The Entertainer by November 22, marking the toy retailer's first standalone store in the city. For Livingston shoppers, a new Monsoon branch has just opened in the bottom floor of the Designer Outlet, marking the third in Scotland overall, with the large double unit sitting between The Body Shop and Weird Fish, and across from Timberland and TOG24. Luxury dessert brand Snowflake Gelato also just made its Scottish debut in the Braehead Shopping Centre a couple of weeks ago, while casual seafood chain Shrimp & Co is said to be eyeing up Glasgow as a potential location in the future.
