LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has recovered over Rs 33.8 million from defaulters and arrested 24 persons on charges of power-theft during the month of October. According to the Lesco, coordinated operations are being conducted in collaboration with police and Rangers, ensuring prompt and decisive action on every reported case of power-theft. According to statistics released by Lesco, the company, between October 1 and October 31, received more than 4,000 complaints related to electricity theft. These included 4,313 domestic, 98 commercial, 29 agricultural, and four industrial cases. The company submitted over 4,377 requests for FIR registration, of which 2,284 FIRs were successfully lodged. During these operations, 24 individuals involved in electricity theft were also arrested. The Lesco teams detected electricity theft amounting to 4,416,183 units, leading to the issuance of detection bills worth over Rs 158.9 million. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
