Lane Kiffin Emerges as Potential Head Dolphins Coach to Replace Mike McDaniel

The Miami Dolphins decided to cut ties with Chris Grier, a decision that didn’t come as much of a surprise. More news: Dolphins Trading Jaelan Phillips to Eagles Is Necessary for the Future As the Dolphins approach the offseason, with Mike McDaniel expected to be the head coach until the end of the season, they’ll have to make some tough decisions on that front as well. McDaniel could be the next in line to get fired, but it remains uncertain what the Dolphins will do on that front. Some have suggested that the organization should consider Lane Kiffin, a former NFL coach who has since found considerable success at Ole Miss. Kiffin is one of the hottest names on the college football market, with multiple job openings in the SEC and Penn State in the Big Ten. More news: Mike McDaniel Addresses Rumors On Benching Tua Tagovailoa When examining it, Sports Illustrated’s Alain Poupart suggested that he wouldn’t count it out, despite it being somewhat unlikely as of now. “Sure, anything is possible, but I’d say at this point it’s a lot more likely to be Mike McDaniel in 2026 than Lane Kiffin,” he wrote. McDaniel may very well get another chance to be the head coach during the 2026 season, too, depending on what the Dolphins do at the GM position.
