The San Francisco 49ers haven’t exactly been dealt a fantastic hand in the 2025 campaign, but they have managed to weather a storm of injuries and post a 6-3 record through their first nine games. If the team intends to go on a deep playoff run, it could benefit from getting healthy before the regular season comes to a close. For a couple of weeks, quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall have been missing action for the Niners, with the team being relatively murky when it comes to when they could return. Ahead of Week 11, though, head coach Kyle Shanahan provided a pair of encouraging injury updates regarding these guys that will surely catch attention. Kyle Shanahan Issues Encouraging Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall Injury Updates Considering all the other injuries the Niners are dealing with, getting Purdy and Pearsall back soon would be a huge win for the team. Mac Jones has starred under center during Purdy’s extended absence, but it’s clear San Francisco’s ceiling is higher when its franchise quarterback is leading the offense and throwing to guys like Pearsall. Purdy has been dealing with a bothersome turf toe injury that has limited him to just two games this season, while Pearsall has been forced to five games with a knee injury. Again, the 49ers have managed to stay afloat despite missing these two guys and several other key pieces on offense, but they are going to need all hands on deck when it comes to emerging from the extremely competitive NFC West division. For the past couple of weeks, Purdy has appeared to be making progress towards returning, while Pearsall’s status has been a bit more up in the air. On Wednesday, though, Shanahan revealed that Purdy has a shot to play in Week 11 and that Pearsall has been given the green light to practice by the team’s trainers. “Per Kyle Shanahan today: Brock Purdy ‘should have a good chance to play’ if he continues making progress this week. Ricky Pearsall is ‘healthy and good to go’ according to trainers,” Yahoo Sports shared in a post on X. 49ers Hoping to Get Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall Boost in Week 11 Both Purdy and Pearsall logged limited practices on Wednesday, which is a step in the right direction considering how much time they have missed. It will be important for them to not just stay on the field over the next two days, but also to make progress in their respective recoveries and prove to the coaching staff that they are ready to play in a real game.
