Kittle reveals how 49ers responded to disappointing loss to Texans

Coming off the San Francisco 49ers' disappointing 26-15 loss at the Houston Texans that dropped the Niners to 5-3 on the season, San Francisco agreed on Tuesday to acquire pass-rusher Keion White from the New England Patriots. Before word of that trade went public, 49ers tight end George Kittle appeared on San Francisco Bay Area sports radio station KNBR and addressed how the club responded following the defeat at what was previously a 2-4 Texans team. 49ers were not happy with performance at Texans "The locker room [Monday], it was disappointed, but excited just to go to the next game," Kittle explained, per David Bonilla of 49ers Webzone. "I think the whole team knows that we didn't play very well. You can watch the game, you can listen to all the cutups from the press conferences, no one's really happy with anybody's performance." As ESPN's Nick Wagoner noted on Tuesday, quarterback Brock Purdy is among the injured San Francisco players who are expected to return to the lineup "at some point in the near future." Purdy thus far has missed six games due to what's become a lingering toe issue, while backup Mac Jones has gone 4-2 as the 49ers' temporary QB1. "I could talk about Brock Purdy all day," Kittle said on Tuesday. "I'm pretty good at that. But anytime you can get your face of the franchise and the guy who's won a lot of games for you back in the saddle, it just instills confidence all over the team." How George Kittle wants 49ers to approach second half of season The 49ers will be without star pass-rusher Nick Bosa (ACL tear) and linebacker Fred Warner (dislocated and broken ankle) for the remainder of the season. Stories continue to link San Francisco with New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams, who is in the final year of his contract and who previously played under 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh when Saleh was Jets head coach. The 49ers have until the trade deadline arrives at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 4, to acquire players currently associated with other teams. Regardless of who is on the San Francisco roster on the morning of Nov. 5, Kittle wants those individuals prepared to go to battle. "The hungry dog, the desperate dog, plays the fastest, the hardest, and wants to win the most," Kittle added. "So hopefully, that will be our overall team mindset moving forward, and get a bunch of hungry dogs out there on offense, and hopefully, just start throwing up a bunch of points." As of Wednesday morning, ESPN BET had the 49ers as 2.5-point favorites for their road game at the New York Giants (2-6) this coming Sunday. It remains to be seen if Purdy will be cleared to play in that contest.
