Kingston Treat Accessibly Halloween Village returns for 2025

Kingston’s second annual Treat Accessibly Halloween Village, presented by the Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025. From 1 to 4 p.m., the one-of-a-kind community event brings the spirit of Halloween to life on Purcell Crescent, through a fully inclusive and accessible trick-or-treating experience, ensuring that children of all abilities—and the young at heart—can participate safely and joyfully, according to a release from the Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group. Founded in 2017 by the Padulo family, Treat Accessibly began when the family realized their home’s stairs made trick-or-treating inaccessible for a neighbour using a wheelchair, according to the release. They relocated their treat station to their driveway — and inspired a nationwide movement. Today, over 100,000 homes across Canada display Treat Accessibly lawn signs, signalling their commitment to inclusive Halloween fun and community spirit. “Together with over 30 supportive homeowners and local community businesses, Ktown Kids Physiotherapy and Greenshield Pest Control, the Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group will transform Purcell Cres into a magical, barrier-free Halloween Village, complete with decorated driveways, accessible treat stations offering both edible and non-edible goodies, and festive entertainment throughout the afternoon,” the release reads. According to the release, the Kingston Treat Accessibly Halloween Village is part of this growing movement and serves as a model for how communities can come together to ensure that no child is left out of the magic of Halloween. At the event, families can reportedly look forward to: Accessible trick-or-treating at decorated stations Costume contests and prizes Music, bubbles, and games Costumed characters and surprises along the route “The goal of the Kingston Treat Accessibly Halloween Village is to create a safe, inclusive, and fun Halloween environment for all children—especially those who may face barriers, physical or otherwise, with traditional trick-or-treating,” the real estate group stated. “We also welcome adults with disabilities to participate. Parents are encouraged to come in costume and join the fun!” To ensure an enjoyable experience for all attendees, pre-registration is required. According to the release, families will select a one-hour time slot during registration to help manage crowd flow and maintain accessibility. Free parking will be available on adjacent streets, and accessible Parking will also be right by the event. In the release, organizers stated that everyone can participate in a Treat Accessibly Halloween. Treat Accessibly lawn signs are available free from the Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group, RE/MAX, and Pet Valu locations in town. The sign lets people in the neighbourhood know that your home will support accessible trick-or-treating, according to the release. The real estate group said that placing the sign on your home’s front lawn before Halloween tells families that have children with a disability that they are welcome to experience Halloween without barriers at your home. Jessica Hellard Real Estate Group offered the following tips for an accessible Halloween: Clear your driveway of vehicles so mobility aids can get up. Make sure everything is well-lit. Set up a treat station at an accessible point at the bottom of your stairs or driveway. Use a chute or bring the candy down to the kids! Have other types of treats for kids who can’t have candy (bubbles, glow sticks, colouring). “All it takes is a little awareness to make Halloween fun for everyone!”
