Drama continues to follow Kevin Durant as he plays for his fifth NBA franchise. The Houston Rockets star is one of the greatest players of all time, but he is developing the reputation of not having an NBA home. Durant hoped that his previous stop with the Phoenix Suns would have been the ideal place to spend the rest of his career playing with Devin Booker. Unfortunately, two disappointing seasons after the team acquired Bradley Beal confirmed they were not going to contend for a title. Durant’s name shockingly made the trade block last winter ahead of the trade deadline. The controversial star is talking more about how he disliked ownership being shady and not telling him about it. “So, you’re doing business behind my back, backdoor s*** like that,” Durant said to Sports Illustrated. “It just didn’t sit right with me. So, I just wanted to wash my hands of both of those teams, the Warriors and the Suns. Because I didn’t like how they did business.” The Suns talked to the Golden State Warriors about a deal centered around Jonathan Kuminga and other pieces going to Phoenix. Durant made it clear that he didn’t want to get traded during the middle of the season and finished that year before the trade to Houston played out in the offseason. Durant Didn’t Like Warriors Involvement Either The bigger story from this could easily be that the trade talks caused Durant to shut down a return to the Warriors. Golden State wanted a reunion and felt they needed another superstar to help Stephen Curry contend for more titles in this later stage of his career. Durant ending the talks once the rumors leaked caused the deal to fall apart. KD said the following about why he didn’t want to return to the Warriors, despite having love for Curry: “I love Steph. I love hooping with Steph. And I really thought about going back to the Warriors. But it was a certain part of me that just didn’t like that this last little phase of my career was gonna be that these owners were just gonna work behind my back to make that decision for me.” Golden State ended up making another big blockbuster trade to acquire the disgruntled Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Curry and Butler have worked well together, but the fit of Durant joining the Warriors would have been even bigger news for the rest of the league. Can Durant Find His NBA Home? The Rockets are hoping to win an NBA Championship for the first time since the Hakeem Olajuwon era in the mid-1990s. Durant joins Alperen Sengun and a slate of young talents hoping to make noise in the Western Conference. Ime Udoka is considered one of the best coaches in the league who gets the most out of his talent.
