As many as 425,000 students are expected to appear for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination in Kerala during the current academic year, General Education Minister V Sivankutty announced on Wednesday. The exams are scheduled to start on March 5, 2026, and will conclude on March 30, reported PTI. The evaluation process will take place from April 7 to 25, and the results are anticipated to be announced on May 8, 2026, the minister stated. Approximately 3,000 examination centres have been set up, including seven in the Gulf region and nine in Lakshadweep, he added. Meanwhile, around nine lakh students are expected to sit for the Plus One and Plus Two (Higher Secondary first and second year) examinations this academic year, Sivankutty said. The Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary first-year public examinations will be conducted from March 5 to 27, 2026, while the second-year examinations are scheduled from March 6 to 28, 2026, he mentioned. Evaluation for these exams is expected to start on April 6, 2026, with results likely being declared by May 22, 2026, the minister added. In order to pass the Kerala Class 10, 11 and 12 examinations, students must achieve a minimum of 33 per cent marks in each subject as well as in the overall aggregate. Previous Year Pass Percentage In 2025, the Kerala Board of Public Examination (KBPE) declared the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam results on May 9. Of the 4,27,021 students who appeared for the Kerala SSLC 2025 exams, 4,24,583 passed, marking a pass percentage of 99.5 per cent. Kannur topped with 99.87 per cent, while Thiruvananthapuram had the lowest at 98.59 per cent. As many as 4,27,021 students took the SSLC exams, which were conducted from March 3 to 26. The exams were held at 2,964 centres across Kerala, along with nine centres in Lakshadweep and seven in Gulf countries. A total of 2,331 schools secured 100 per cent pass percentage in Kerala SSLC exams 2025. A total of 61,449 students secured A+ grades in all subjects.
