One of Kelowna’s newest downtown restaurants has support from council to extend its hours until 2 a.m. Ask Pablo Cocktail Bar and Kitchen on Lawrence Avenue requested hours in line with a liquor primary establishment. City staff presented the idea to council during its meeting on Nov. 3 with the recommendation to support the change and forward a resolution to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB). Council heard from staff that neighbour notifications went out with no feedback returned to the city. Staff said noise is anticipated to be minimal as the restaurant has a capacity of 30 people. Staff added that disruption to the area would be minimal, with the neighbouring properties having similar uses. As a food primary establishment, Ask Pablo would be required to continue operating under all LCRB requirements of such an establishment, including having its kitchen open during all business hours. There was little discussion from the council before the motion was passed unanimously and a recommendation from the council will be forwarded to the LCRB.
