The Buffalo Bills improved to 6-2 on the season via an impressive 28-21 home win over the Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) on Sunday afternoon. Following that result, Bills quarterback and reigning Most Valuable Player Josh Allen spoke with Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated about what the victory means to a Buffalo team that's looking to do more than simply qualify for the upcoming postseason tournament. Why Josh Allen isn't popping champagne bottles after after Bills' latest win over Chiefs "It’s any other game," Allen explained. "That’s what we have to continue to tell ourselves each and every week, no matter who the opponent is. They’re nameless. They’re faceless. And it’s our job to go 1–0 each and every week." One can't blame Allen for embracing such a mindset about his most recent win over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. As Armando Salguero of OutKick pointed out, Allen has gone 5-1 in regular-season matchups versus Mahomes' Chiefs. That said, Allen holds a career postseason record of 0-4 against Mahomes and Co. in the playoffs. Back in January of this year, Buffalo suffered a 32-29 defeat at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship Game. "You know who you’re playing," Allen added about the Chiefs. "I’ve just always had this mindset. It’s more about us than it is about them." Josh Allen praises teammate for selfless act in win over Chiefs With under 2:40 remaining in regulation of Sunday's game, Buffalo running back James Cook picked up a first down and then made sure to get down inbounds so the Chiefs would have to burn their final timeout to stop the clock. Cook's selfless play helped ensure Mahomes wouldn't have extra time to complete what would've been a miracle comeback on the game's final drive. "That’s something we practiced and we repped," Allen said. "And you know as well as anyone else, when you’ve got an opportunity to go make a play in the NFL and bump those stats up a little bit more, people will jump at that opportunity. But the selflessness of him, especially being his caliber of player, to do that for the team, is unbelievable." As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had Allen as the betting favorite at +180 odds to claim the MVP Award. At that same time, ESPN BET had the Bills as 8.5-point favorites for their Nov. 9 game at the Miami Dolphins (2-7). Meanwhile, Breer asked if Allen would be surprised if the Bills and Chiefs see each other again in January 2026. "Definitely not," Allen responded. Such a contest could prove to be a late Christmas gift for passionate football fans.
