John Cena shocked the WWE Universe by turning heel at the Elimination Chamber 2025. The 17-time world champion defeated 5 other superstars in the chamber match to earn a title match against Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania 41. Following the win, Cena was joined by Cody Rhodes in the ring. Soon, The Rock also joined them. Cena turned heel during the segment and attacked Cody. His actions left the WWE Universe and the fans were excited to see what's in store for heel Cena. More than six months after the premium live event, Cena's father, John Cena Sr., has reacted to it. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Senior Cena seemingly blamed The Rock and Travis Scott's absence for the "destroyed" storyline. "Turning John Cena heel was a great idea. The shock factor was great. But I think the storyline was destroyed. And that was a very poor move, in my opinion, because it was a big gamble for everyone that was involved. And to see how it started, and then to see the characters who were involved no longer be present, well the heel turn almost became non-essential," he told Sportskeeda. The Rock hasn't made even one WWE appearance since the Elimination Chamber. Scott helped Cena win his 17th World Championship at Wrestlemania, but his appearance didn't go down well with the fans. The Wrestlemania main event failed to live up to expectations and was widely criticised. Cena turned babyface on final Smackdown before SummerSlam 2025. He lost the title in the main event of the biggest party of the Summer. Cena and Cody put on the best match of the night. Cena was involved in a storyline with Brock Lesnar after SummerSlam and lost to him at Wrestlepalooza. He will now face AJ Styles at Crown Jewel. Cody successfully retained his Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre at Wrestlepalooza and will face Seth Rollins in Australia.
