Jimmy Kimmel Still in Hot Water – $3 Million Lawsuit Hangs Over Him While ABC Show Controversy Continues

Jimmy Kimmel is currently sitting at the pinnacle of a lot of issues. The popular TV show host recently faced one of the most controversial fallout from ABC, after the production company Disney fired him for his statements against the late activist Charlie Kirk during his late-night show. While the channel has, most recently, lifted the previously established suspension on his show, there still seems to be one more hurdle that Jimmy needs to resolve before he returns to the hot seat. Well, we are referring to the colossal lawsuit before him, as lodged by a writer. Daniel Curry, the writer who registered this lawsuit worth $3 million against Kimmel, claimed that he was tased on the set of a prank show hosted by Johnny Knoxville and executively produced by Jimmy Kimmel. The incident took place in September 2022, right before the former’s late-night show was suspended and taken off air after the controversial and questionable statements Kimmel made against the late right-wing activist who was recently assassinated. The victim, Daniel, further pressed that he suffered from a broken fibula as a result of being tased and even had a torn ankle ligament, as clearly elucidated in the court documents of the case. In fact, this incident was also recorded on camera for further evidence to be presented. Daniel filed a negligence and battery lawsuit in 2024 against not just Johnny, but also ABC Signature Studios, Jimmy’s Creative Lab, Kimmelot, ITV America, and all other stakeholders associated with the program. At the moment, this pending lawsuit has gone under arbitration, which means that a neutral third party will be deciding the fate of the case, handled outside of court. Since Daniel claims that getting tased has permanently damaged his leg, he is seeking compensation worth $3 million in total. As per his words to The U.S. Sun, he is even ready to publicize all the information he has kept private for all these years. Moreover, Daniel further pressed that fellow comedian Eric Andre had even dismissed the incident as just being ‘jackass’ behavior. He further told the news outlet, “I’m not a public person. I’m trying to just write and work and do good work. I’m an artist, not an attention seeker.” Recalling what actually happened on the incident, Daniel recalled, “Johnny Knoxville entered the studio from outside with what I now know is a police taser. There was a mass of people trying to avoid him. He just came into the room, angry with a taser. When I got hit with the taser, I tried to run away. It seized my body, and I went completely rigid, and I collapsed to my knees. I function pretty well, I do my PT exercises, but I don’t have a hundred percent functionality.” As per detailed court documents, Daniel broke his fibula as a result of the taser, instantly damaging the two tendons in his ankle. As a result, he had to go through months of physical therapy as well as adhere to several permanent physical limitations. Meanwhile, Kimmel’s return to the ABC show has not been welcomed gladly by Donald Trump, who actually played the ace card behind his suspension. The U.S. President, who has long claimed the TV host is not funny, expressed his anger in a recent Truth Social post. He wrote “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. The White House was told by ABC that his Show was cancelled! Something happened between then and now — his audience is gone, and his “talent” was never there. Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE.”
