Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman criticised the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for ignoring Karachi during its long rule in the province. Addressing a ceremony in Karachi on Sunday, Hafiz Naeem said that the city’s roads are in poor condition while citizens are receiving e-challans worth thousands of rupees. The JI chief vowed that his party would free Karachi from the system of looting and land grabbing. He also criticised Mayor Murtaza Wahab’s performance, asking where the S-3 project had gone. “There is no transport system in the city, roads have not been built and people are getting e-challans in thousands,” he said. Hafiz Naeem lashes out at PPP over Karachi’s woes Hafiz Naeem also accused the PPP of manipulating local government constituencies to increase its seats and said the party secured its mayor through rigging. He added that major city projects have been delayed for 12 to 15 years and that the PPP has done nothing for Karachi during its rule. Accusing the PPP of manipulating the jobs in Karachi, he said that the city’s youth have been deprived of employment opportunities. Hafiz Naeem also described education as a right, not charity. “Generation Z is bringing a revolution in the world; that same Generation Z is being disappointed. If Generation Z becomes disillusioned, it may go down the wrong path,” he warned, saying Jamaat-e-Islami’s “Bano Qabil” program is equipping Generation Z with skills.
