JetBlue: Return to Profit ‘Gaining Momentum’ as Latest Results Show Strong Recovery

JetBlue – the low fares US domestic and transatlantic carrier – has said its return to profit is gaining momentum after a strong third quarter performance. The airline – which connects the east coast of the US to Dublin and numerous other European cities – beat market expectations with its latest set of results. Third quarter operational revenues came in at $2.32bn; only slightly under the same period last year. The carrier made an operating loss of $100m for the three months to the end of September. However, the performance over the first nine months of the year shows the real progress – with JetBlue’s losses for that period falling from $700m to $268m, year-on-year. Its JetForward customer service and performance plan is also set to realise $290m in incremental earnings this year. “JetBlue’s progress toward profitability is gaining momentum as a result of the swift actions we’ve taken to implement our JetForward strategy and set a strong foundation for 2026,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s chief executive officer. “Revenue and costs came in at the better half of their respective guidance ranges, significantly improving our financial performance throughout the quarter.” “We are providing customers with more opportunities to choose JetBlue’s differentiated product and service, from our expansion in Fort Lauderdale to the launch of reciprocal loyalty accrual and redemption as part of our Blue Sky collaboration,” added Marty St. George, JetBlue’s president. “Through these unique JetForward initiatives and others coming online next year, we expect to see margin momentum.” “We are optimistic the demand environment will continue to improve through the end of the year,” said Mr St. George. “Peaks are expected to remain strong while troughs remain challenging, and we continue to expect relatively stronger demand for our premium offerings versus core.”
