Michelle Obama and Jenna are not shy about the support they have for one another. On the Nov. 4 episode of “TODAY with Jenna & Friends,” Obama joined as a special guest to discuss her new fashion evolution book, “The Look,” among other things. Obama shared, at the start of the chat, how proud she is of Jenna. “I love you to death. I am so proud of you,” Obama shared, prompting Jenna to respond, "I want to cry." "You're going to make me cry," Obama responded. The two have a years-long connection. Obama is the wife of 44th President Barack Obama and Jenna is the daughter of 43rd President George W. Bush. As the presidency transitioned from Bush to Obama in 2008, Jenna and her twin sister, Barbara, gave the Obamas’ two daughters a tour of the White House. "I always talk about that moment, how gracious it was for you, Barbara and your mom to take the time out to help the girls feel like it was going to be a home," Obama said. "You really made them feel loved and seen." At the end of their chat, Obama said she is “so proud” of Jenna and Barbara “for being the gracious women that you are in the world — just showing up right every single day.” Jenna couldn’t help but smile and tear up. “You know, now I’m crying,” she said. Jenna leaned in to grab Obama’s hand as the two shared a special moment. “Thank you so, so much Mrs. Obama. You know I cry at a drop,” Jenna said. “That’s the loveliest for you to share that with me.” The admiration went both ways. Jenna shared that she’s enjoying Obama’s podcast “IMO,” which she hosts with her brother Craig Robinson. “I’m loving your podcast with your brother. It’s fun to be able to hear from the two of you,” Jenna said. Jenna then mentioned Obama could make a transition into TV — after all, she’s in search of a co-host! “There’s a spot open on this show, it seems like you’ve become good at hosting,” Jenna said. Obama replied, laughing, “This is tricky business. These eight-minute segments drive me nuts.” “Believe me, I know, we want more time, don't we?” Jenna said. Obama agreed. "Always. It's a pleasure to be with you," she said.
