Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals have a new leader. Jason Kreis, RSL’s director of operations and special projects, has been named president of soccer operations over both professional soccer teams. “Jason is an incredible leader who has a championship legacy and a commitment to building an elite culture,” Larry H. Miller Company CEO Steve Starks said in a news release Wednesday. “With the support of our ownership group, Jason will bring passion and experience to this new role and leverage synergies across both teams while creating a championship culture.” LHM said RSL and the Royals will continue to operate independently, but said “this new sporting structure will enable greater development, collaboration, innovation and commitment to building championship cultures.” Kreis will report directly to Starks. Kreis is an RSL legend. He was the first player the club ever acquired and later became the team’s coach from 2007 to 2013. He led the team to an MLS championship in 2009. “Jason’s leadership, clarity of vision, and track record of elevating people and programs will align every part of Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC,” said Steve Miller, chairman and governor for Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC. “Jason knows this community, and I’m confident he will raise our standards and take the entire organization to new heights.”
