Dear Editor, I am writing again to bring attention to the ongoing issue of unclean water being supplied to residents of Stevedore Housing Scheme. Despite the implication in the previous reports and discussions with GWI’s response to my first letter that I was misrepresenting the situation, water quality has not improved. The water that comes through our taps, especially in the early morning hours, continues to be brown and visibly dirty. I sent a picture of the water to GWI. Here is a picture taken yesterday, Oct 29, which clearly shows the condition of the water. This is not simply an inconvenience — this is a matter of health. The water we are receiving is not healthy or safe for cooking, drinking, washing, or other household use. Many residents are forced to let their taps run for long periods in hopes of getting clearer water, leading to wasted water and higher water bills that many families cannot afford. We are asking GWI to return to the community during the morning hours when the problem is most visible, instead of only visiting during the day when the water appears clearer. We need a real, lasting solution — not temporary appearances. Residents of Stevedore Housing Scheme deserve clean, safe water just like every other citizen of this country.
