You know how sometimes you accidentally swipe your lock screen and BAM, the camera opens? Super annoying, right? Or maybe that see-through ‘Liquid Glass‘ look on iOS 26 makes things kinda hard to read sometimes? Well, it looks like Apple’s heard us. They just sent out the final test version (the RC) of iOS 26.1, which means it’s hitting everyone’s phones probably next week. And it’s got some fixes for exactly those kinds of headaches. Recommended Videos First up, that glassy look. They’ve added a new switch in Settings > Display & Brightness. You can now choose between the regular “Clear” look or a new “Tinted” option. “Tinted” basically makes the menus and notification backgrounds less see-through and bumps up the contrast, so stuff is way easier to read. Nice! Seems like people complained during testing, and Apple actually listened. And the big one for me? You can finally turn off the swipe-left-to-open-camera thing on the lock screen! Seriously, how long have we been asking for that? No more accidental photos of the inside of your pocket. You’ll find that magic toggle under Settings > Camera. Thank you, Apple! It’s not just about fixing annoyances, though. They’re making the phone smarter too. Apple Intelligence (their AI stuff) is learning a bunch of new languages like Turkish, Dutch, and Vietnamese. And if you use AirPods for live translations, they’ve added Mandarin, Italian, Japanese, and Korean – pretty cool if you travel or chat with people internationally. There are a few other little goodies tucked in there too. You can now slide to stop alarms and timers, which feels kinda nice. There’s a new setting for screen recordings called “Local Capture,” a new way to swipe between songs in the Music app, and the Apple TV app has a fresh icon (they dropped the “+”). So should i break out the party bells for the best iOS update yet? Honestly, this update isn’t trying to blow your mind with crazy new features. It’s more like Apple is polishing things up and fixing the little stuff that drives us nuts. You could say they’re just correcting their own designs, but hey, it makes the phone better to use every day. Feels like they’re actually paying attention to the small details, and that’s always a good thing. Solid update, I’d say.
