Actress Mouni Roy has turned restaurateur with her latest venture, Badmaash, a stylish dining spot that blends contemporary Indian flavours with a vibrant Bollywood charm. The restaurant’s interiors are as eye-catching as its menu — think lush greenery climbing the walls and ceiling, a glowing bar setup, and an atmosphere that feels straight out of a movie set. A recent report by SCREEN revealed the price list of some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, giving food enthusiasts a peek into what to expect when dining at Badmaash. Fusion Indian food with flair Badmaash offers a wide variety of fusion Indian dishes that celebrate traditional flavours with a modern twist. The menu ranges between ₹300 and ₹800, making it a premium yet accessible dining experience. For those with a sweet tooth, classic desserts like Shahi Tukda and Gulab Jamun are priced at ₹410 each, while the inventive Avocado Bhel comes at ₹395 — a creative dish that Mouni herself helped conceptualise. “I love avocado and I love jhalmuri, so we came up with Avocado Bhel,” she told IndianRetailer.com. The restaurant also serves familiar favourites such as Masala Peanut, Masala Papad, Crispy Corn, and Sev Puri, each priced at ₹295. For something heartier, Kanda Bhajiya costs ₹355, while prawn-based dishes are among the higher-end offerings, priced around ₹795. Even the humble breads have a special place on the menu — Tandoori Roti at ₹105, Naan at ₹115, and Amritsari Kulcha at ₹145. Inspired by travel and nostalgia Mouni Roy said the idea for Badmaash stemmed from her love of Indian cuisine and her global travels. “Whenever I travel for work, I look for Indian restaurants everywhere. I truly believe that we don’t have as many good Indian restaurants, especially in Bengaluru and Mumbai, so it was a great opportunity to have something like Badmaash,” she said. The actress also spoke about her long-standing dream of running a café: “Whenever I travelled, I would always sit at a café with my book, a coffee, and a croissant. That ritual made me imagine owning a café of my own. It didn’t work out back then, but thanks to my husband and his best friends at VRO, I got the opportunity to own a restaurant — and I jumped at it.” A blend of tradition and innovation When Badmaash first opened in 2023, Mouni described it as a space where “progressive Indian cuisine” takes centre stage. She said she wanted to create a restaurant that “represents my love for Indian flavours presented in new, exciting ways.” Among her personal favourites is the Stir-fried Mushroom Milagu with Shimeji Crisps, a dish that brings together South Indian pepper spice with a Japanese twist. The restaurant’s signature drink, the “Mounilicious” cocktail, has also become a hit — featuring a blend of tropical flavours and a subtle hint of curry leaves. On the big screen While Mouni is focusing on her business venture, she hasn’t stepped away from acting. Her most recent appearance was in Salakaar, and she previously played the antagonist Junoon in Ayan Mukerji’s 2022 blockbuster Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. With Badmaash, Mouni Roy seems to be blending her on-screen glamour with her off-screen passion for food — offering diners not just a meal, but an experience that’s as cinematic as it is delicious.
