Sheffield United secured a second successive victory on Tuesday night with an impressive 3-1 comeback win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The result lifts the Blades out of the bottom three for the first time this season and continues their encouraging run of form. Despite a bright start from the visitors, it was Blackburn who struck first, punishing United with a swift counter-attack five minutes before the break. Guðjohnsen’s cross from the right found De Neve at the far post, and although the Belgian scuffed his effort, the ball dropped kindly to Ohashi, who converted from close range to give Rovers a 1-0 lead at half-time. United came out after the interval with renewed purpose and were quickly rewarded for their pressure. The equaliser arrived from a corner, sparked by quick thinking from Djibril Soumare, who reacted fastest to Japhet Tanganga’s initial header. In the ensuing scramble, Henriksson inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to make it 1-1. The turnaround was completed with 20 minutes remaining thanks to a moment of composure and creativity from Callum O’Hare. Picking up a loose ball 30 yards from goal, O’Hare threaded a perfectly timed pass through to substitute Harrison Burrows on the left. The wing-back took one touch before curling a precise finish into the far corner to make it 2-1. As Blackburn pushed forward late on, United sealed the points with a superbly constructed third goal. Andre Brooks, lively off the bench, lofted a clever ball into space for Burrows, who advanced down the left and delivered a low cross for Tyrese Campbell. The striker kept his composure to slot home from close range and secure a valuable victory for the Blades. The win marks another step forward for Wilder’s side, who have now taken six points from their last two matches. They’ll look to continue their resurgence when they travel to face former Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom with Preston North End on Friday evening, aiming for three wins in a week. Chris Wilder Praises Sheffield United Players For Epic Comeback Win at Blackburn Rovers After the game, speaking to SUTV, Chris Wilder praised his players’ spirit and mentality in overturning the deficit: “I didn’t think there was a lot in the game in the first half, we just lacked a bit of quality and needed to smooth it out, but the pitch wasn’t great for either team,” Wilder admitted. “I was disappointed to come in at half-time behind because I felt we had the better opportunities. There was no good going into our shell and feeling sorry for ourselves, we had to be brave and courageous, and we had to be calm in our approach. There was a real desire and drive from the players to get back into the game and then go on and win it which was satisfying for me.” Wilder also highlighted the impact of his substitutes, particularly Harrison Burrows, who made a decisive contribution after coming off the bench. “Harrison has struggled a bit early in the season, and maybe it’s done him good to come out of the team, especially with Sam McCallum doing so well,” he said. “But Harrison gives us real quality in that position and showed that with a great finish. The substitutes played their part again, like they did on Saturday and the introduction of Jairo [Riedewald], you can just see the calmness and experience he possess.”
