Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Daniel Etim-Effiong, has opened up about how his Christian faith shaped his approach to acting, especially romantic roles in movies. In an interview with Channels Television, Etim-Effiong revealed that he prays before performing any kissing scenes on set, explaining that his spiritual beliefs guide his choices. “The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles in the industry today means that I get to have kissing scenes sometimes,” he said. “People feel it’s become one too many, but the question should go to the producers. Why are they expressing affection and intimacy only a certain way? There are several other ways you can show affection.” He noted that many producers include kissing scenes because they appeal to audiences and meet market demand. Speaking further, he said, “I get all my inspiration from God. I go on my knees and pray before I go to set and kiss. My family is my garden, then my work.” Etim-Effiong also shared that acting feels like a calling for him, one that led him to leave a career in engineering to pursue storytelling. “It becomes a purpose to me, and that’s why I had the courage to quit engineering, a well-paying job, to go into storytelling. It felt like a calling,” he added. ALSO READ TOP STORIES FROM NIGERIAN TRIBUNE
