A shocking stabbing incident took place on a train travelling to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on Friday. Several people were injured, and two suspects have been arrested, British Transport Police (BTP) said. According to officials, officers quickly reached the spot after receiving reports of multiple stabbings on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train. Cambridgeshire Police also assisted BTP in handling the situation and securing the area. Multiple People Stabbed In a statement, BTP said, “We are currently responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed. Officers are in attendance alongside @CambsCops and two people have been arrested. Further updates will be shared here.” Cambridgeshire Police told to The Sun that the incident took place around 7.39 pm. “Armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital. The incident remains ongoing and the A1307 has been closed as you approach the town centre,” a police spokesperson said. Emergency services are at the spot, and investigations into the motive and details of the attack are underway. Travel Disruption For Passengers Following the incident, LNER announced that “disruption is expected until the end of the day” as all lines through Huntingdon remain blocked. Passengers have been urged to check before travelling. LNER further advised people not to travel, stating on X, “Our advice is ‘Do Not Travel’. Please defer your travel where you can. Your existing ticket will be valid to use up to and including Monday, November 3. Please make a new seat reservation for your newly intended journey.”
