Police are hunting a suspect after a man was left fighting for his life in an attack in Manchester city centre. Paramedics were called to reports of a man found seriously injured on Back Piccadilly, between Piccadilly Gardens and the Northern Quarter , on Thursday evening (November 6). Officers saw the man, whose age has not been confirmed, in a life-threatening condition following an assault. The area was taped off overnight amid investigations, with a large cordon put in place and officers remaining at the scene. Two people have since been charged in connection with the incident; Simon Starrs, 37, of no fixed abode, and Lucy Sheriff, 34, also of no fixed abode, have both been charged with one count of assault. In an update on Sunday (November 9), Greater Manchester Police revealed officers are still hunting one man as part of investigations. Anyone with information is being urged to make contact immediately. A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers are appealing for information to identify a person involved in an assault in Manchester city centre. "At 5.44pm on Thursday 6 November 2025 police were called to Back Piccadilly after a man had been found with life-threatening injuries. The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital. "Two people have been charged with assault but officers are seeking to identify another man. The man was wearing a distinctive green coat/blue hood, and grey pants.
