A new documentary series about legendary Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez premieres tonight on HBO. “Alex vs. ARod” comes from Religion of Sports’ Gotham Chopra and Erik LeDrew, who previously made documentaries about Tom Brady and Russell Westbrook, among others. Per HBO, the three-part series “explores the dualities of one of the most polarizing figures in sports” beginning with his childhood, through his early MLB career with the Mariners and eventually, his 12-season tenure with the New York Yankees that was marred by a season-long suspension for performance-enhancing drug use. The series also “examines the events that fueled Rodriguez’s rise and fall, as well as his extraordinary talent, his place in baseball history, and the personal growth that defines his life as ‘Alex’ today through interviews with Rodriguez himself; ex-wife Cynthia Rodriguez Nicolas; daughters Natasha and Ella Rodriguez; former MLB manager MLB manager Lou Piniella; Baseball Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and Ken Griffey Jr.; and broadcasters Katie Couric, Mike Francesa, and Michael Kay. ‘Alex vs. ARod’ release date and time “Alex vs. ARod” comes out at 9 p.m. ET tonight, Nov. 6, on HBO.
