For the second year the biggest race Down Under will take place on Channel 9 after the network snapped up the rights from Channel 10. In 2025, the event will be held on Tuesday November 4, with Nine’s live coverage kicking off from 10am AEDT and finishing at 5.30pm AEDT. The Melbourne Cup will be available to watch free-to-air on Channel 9 and to stream on 9Now. The event will also be broadcast on Tabcorp’s Sky Racing channel, although delayed, and the TAB app. Due to contractual restrictions, Melbourne Cup Day will not be shown on Kayo Sports’s Racing.com channel, but will be shown via the Racing.com website, app and free-to-air channel (78 or 68). Several radio stations will also be providing live commentary of the race including ABC local radio, SEN Radio, Nine Radio and Triple M in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. What time does the Melbourne Cup start? The 2024 edition of the great race will take place on Tuesday, November 5 and will be run at 3pm (AEDT), although it usually starts a few minutes later as it takes time to get the horses into their gates.
