Amrita Bahadur had gotten home from work one evening two years ago and was lying on her couch when her fiancée asked: ‘Why don’t we start a cocktail business as we’re already into decor?’ That idea was the beginning of a flourishing, unique business over the past year and a half that Bahadur says has seen zero complaints to date. Gemini Cocktails by Hats Off is a mobile bartending service that Bahadur and her partner, Lawanda Pillay started up that has its store location at Lot 17 Duncan and Abary streets, Bel Air Park, Georgetown. In an interview with Stabroek Weekend, Bahadur, 39, who originally hails from New Amsterdam, Berbice shared that the business caters for corporate and social events, and even for personal ones held at people’s homes. “We cater for birthdays, weddings, engagements, Christmas parties; everything we cater to! We set up our own bar and provide cocktail bartending services,” she explained.
