Retina scanning to detect if motorists are attempting to drive under the influence of an intoxicant will become widespread in the future, the head of the Medical Bureau of Road Safety has said. Professor Denis Cusack, director of the bureau based at UCD, said new technology in the pipeline is expected to dramatically prevent drunk or drugged drivers from getting behind the wheel.
