Regarding the activities following cardiologist Sasko Kedev’s allegations, presented in August, that there had been unnecessary open-heart surgeries, that is, ones performed for monetary reasons, there’s still been no outcome when it comes to those that have filed complaints. On Tuesday, the Minister of Health, Azir Aliu, stated that he was waiting for the local elections to end officially before hiring the foreign experts that would be included in the analysis process. The Health Insurance Fund said most of the cases were starting from scratch, while there was one concerning an intervention performed in 2010. “Most cases that have reached the Fund are a piece of paper from patients, where an administrative procedure of processing had to be carried out before the activities moved to medical processing. The process is not as quick as all of us would want because there are multiple stages of checking matters”, its Director, Saso Klekovski, stressed.
