Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare P. Senthil Kumar on Monday inspected the progress of the construction of a new super-speciality block at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) here. Accompanied by Collector V. Saravanan, he interacted with the hospital and Public Works Department authorities and checked the progress of the construction. He instructed them to expedite the works so as to complete the project within the prescribed time limit. The new block will have ground plus six floors. A sum of ₹110 crore has been allotted to the project. The new facility is expected to have 600 beds and will function as a broad speciality block with medicine, surgery, dermatology departments and a centralised blood bank.
