Gurugram: The Gurugram Police on Sunday arrested Sunil Sardhaniya, a notorious gangster of Haryana, the officials confirmed. According to them, Sardhaniya was the main accused in the firing incident on Bollywood singer Fazilpuria. He was caught at the Delhi Airport when he was returning from Costa Rica in Central America. The police said Sardhaniya had been living in Costa Rica on a fake passport to evade arrest. The Gurugram Police will interrogate him for links with other criminal networks operating overseas. Sunil Sardhania and his associate Deepak Nandal had taken responsibility for two violent attacks linked to Bollywood singer Rahul Fazilpuria. Later, on 4 August, Rohit Shokeen, a close associate of the singer, was shot dead near Palm Hills in Sector 77 by two masked attackers. Shokeen, a property dealer from Delhi, was hit by about 15 bullets and suffered severe injuries, reported TOI. Sardhania claimed the murder was part of a dispute over money Fazilpuria allegedly owed Nandal. Social media posts from Sardhania threatened Fazilpuria and named Nandal and another associate, Rao Inderjeet Yadav. The attacks stemmed from a fallout between Fazilpuria and Nandal, who had previously produced his songs. Shokeen had reportedly guaranteed some of Fazilpuria’s financial dealings with Nandal, though the singer denies owing any money. Sardhania recently returned to India from Zurich and was arrested at Delhi Airport by the Gurgaon Crime Branch. He had been hiding in Costa Rica on a fake passport. Police confirmed that Sardhania and Nandal had parted ways two months ago. Authorities said this arrest is a major blow to their criminal network, and Sardhania will be interrogated for links to other crimes.
